Sharps Disposal

Sharps are one of the most common regulated waste streams in healthcare: needles, syringes, lancets, scalpel blades and other items that can puncture skin. They require rigid, puncture-resistant containers and careful handling from the point of generation through final delivery. Our planned sharps service is designed around that reality.

What counts as sharps waste

• Hypodermic needles and syringes
• Lancets and fingerstick devices
• Scalpel blades and razor blades used in care
• Other sharp items contaminated through patient care

How our planned sharps pickup will work

• Proper containers. Sharps must go into rigid, puncture-resistant, leak-proof containers. We will advise on appropriate container options for your volume.
• Scheduled or on-call pickup. High-volume practices can join a recurring route; smaller generators can use on-call service so they are not paying for pickups they do not need.
• Documented transport. Every pickup will include the tracking documentation your records require.
• Authorized delivery. Collected sharps will be transported to appropriately authorized receiving, treatment or disposal facilities.

Who generates sharps in New Jersey

Physician offices, dental practices (especially oral surgery), veterinary clinics, urgent care centers, dialysis centers, laboratories, dermatology and podiatry practices, fertility clinics and medical spas all commonly generate sharps. If your facility uses needles or blades in patient or animal care, you likely need a compliant sharps stream.

Service is in development and pending required regulatory approvals. We are not accepting or transporting regulated medical waste at this time.
